Mission

YWCA’s mission: eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women’s organization in the world.

The YWCA Eastern Union County opened its doors in 1920 and has been serving the women, children and families of Union County ever since, with a long history of promoting the rights and health of women and their families at home, in the workplace, and in the community, and advocating on behalf of social and racial justice.

In 1978, in response to the growing concern about domestic violence in Union County, the YWCA EUC established Project Protect to provide emergency shelter for battered women and their children.  Today, we are recognized as the lead domestic violence agency in Union County, with a full range of services provided.
