Domestic Violence Awareness Month
October is national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an annual campaign coordinated by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Within the month – from Oct. 16 through 22 – is the YWCA USA’s Week Without Violence. These annual campaigns have evolved into a collective effort that inspires people to take a look at the violence within their communities and join together to create positive change.
YWCA Eastern Union County holds Empty Place at the Table program on October 17 at Kean University, and additional dates in 2012 at Union County College, honoring those who have lost their lives as a result of domestic violence.
On October 3, we will host our Empowering Women: Rewriting the Story of Domestic Violence Cocktail Reception, raising funds to support our programs and services.
